JOIN THE DYNAMIC RESERVATIONS TEAM AT TSWALU KALAHARI RESERVE

Based at Tswalu Kalahari Reserve, this position would suit someone who is used to multitasking and adding value as part of a fast-paced, dynamic reservations team. The role is reservations focused, but includes administrative support within the sales and marketing department.

 

ABOUT TSWALU KALAHARI

Tswalu Kalahari is the largest private game reserve in South Africa, spanning 114,000 hectares in the southern Kalahari in the Northern Cape province. At its core, Tswalu is a regenerative conservation project with a bold vision to leave the world better than how we found it. Every guest who chooses this unique destination safari is contributing to conservation, helping to safeguard vital habitat, and restore biodiversity to the Kalahari ecosystem.

 

PRIOR EXPERIENCE

  • • At least 3 years working with PANSTRAT property management system
  • • At least 2 years working with a CRM database management system
  • • At least 3 years previous reservations experience in a luxury hotel or lodge environment

NURSE SUPERVISOR

 

NURSE SUPERVISOR, TSWALU HEALTH CARE CENTRE

Tswalu Kalahari is located in the Northern Cape, and is the largest privately protected wildlife reserve in South Africa. It is a long-term conservation project, the funding of which is supported by sustainable, nature-based tourism.

Tswalu Health Care Centre: Tswalu Kalahari Reserve has a modern, well-equipped Health Care Centre that serves the broader community, providing free primary health care services to staff of Tswalu and their families on the reserve and for those living in rural communities that fall within a 100-kilometre radius of the reserve. Guests requiring medical attention also have access to the clinic.

 

IN SUMMARY

Tswalu is looking to employ a full-time Nurse Supervisor to manage the Health Care Centre’s day-to-day operations, including its safety, finance and HR portfolios. The successful candidate will oversee all primary health care services in compliance with the Memorandum of Understanding issued by the Department of Health. The role includes taking responsibility for coordinating and managing specific preventative health programmes, such as HIV, TB, and Workplace Wellness, and ensuring that all safety requirements are in place. Mitigating and managing health risks through these preventative programmes, and promoting workplace wellness, are essential to the job.

 

THE APPLICANT

Essential requirements:

  • • 4 year comprehensive Diploma or Degree in Nursing Science
  • • 3-5 years of health clinic management experience
  • • 3-5 years in managing emergency situations
  • • Valid proof of Nursing Indemnity
  • • Valid code EB driver’s licence
  • • Registered with the SA Nursing Council
  • • Annual Practising Certificate
  • • NIMART (Nurse Initiated Management of Antiretroviral Therapy) qualification
  • • Dispensing licence, registered with the relevant professional council
  • • Basic Life Support certificate
  • • Knowledge and understanding of Primary Health Care Services and Disease Management policies and procedures, especially in rural areas
  • • Knowledge and experience in the application of relevant statutes and policies governing the Public and Private Service and Nursing Profession as well as Nursing Plans
  • • Knowledge and understanding of the treatment guidelines and procedures in the private as well as government sector
  • • Willing to live and work on Tswalu Kalahari Reserve

Also important:

  • • Computer literate with advanced skills in Microsoft Powerpoint, Word and Excel
  • • Fluent in Afrikaans and English (ability to read, write and speak these languages)
  • • Able to manage data and write reports
  • • Able to problem solve, prioritise and act decisively under pressure
  • • Excellent time-management skills

GUIDING AT TSWALU KALAHARI RESERVE

Tswalu Kalahari has opened a third luxury camp, and we are looking for experienced, qualified field guides to join the team. The successful candidates will be dynamic, committed individuals with a passion for nature and people, and a real hunger to learn, grow and evolve. Loapi, which means ‘the space below the clouds’ in Setswana, is a luxury tented camp comprising of six exclusive-use, individually run safari homes. Each home will be staffed with a Homathi (private host/butler), private chef, and a private guide and tracker. Team work to deliver the highest quality, private safari experience for your guests will be essential.

The main role of our guiding team is to provide an exceptional, privately guided safari experience to every guest in their care, while always striving to exceed individual expectations, cater for specific needs, and focus on their special interests. As part of the greater Tswalu community, our guides are expected to collaborate and work as a team to consistently deliver a world-class safari and hospitality experience to all our guests.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • • Minimum 5 years of guiding experience in a luxury safari environment, preferably in a privately owned reserve or concession
  • • Previous private guiding experience advantageous – all our guests are privately guided in their own vehicle
  • • FGASA Lead Trails qualification (candidates close to completing this qualification will be considered)
  • • FGASA Senior Guide qualification (Level 3 preferred)
  • • ARH & Rifle proficiency / SAPS Competency Certificate
  • • Valid driver’s licence, and Professional driving permit (PrDP)
  • • Valid First Aid (Level 2)
  • • CATHSSETA /DEAT registered
  • • Excellent communication skills
  • • Committed to working as part of a busy team
  • • Committed to building a strong working relationship with all trackers
  • • Computer literate
  • • Proficiency in English (Afrikaans or Setswana advantageous)
  • • Ability to speak additional languages a bonus

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • • Leading game drives, walks and other guest activities on the reserve
